I noticed there are many computer gurus on the board so thought I'd ask the question.
After installing the latest Microsoft critical updates to XP home the following problem occured.
Each time I close Internet explorer i get an application error msg involving IEXPLORE.EXE, which says, The instruction at "0x01522ce8" referenced memory at "0x01778ac0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. Runtime error 216 at 00002CE8
Other than that, the browser works perfectly fine, just gets annoying after awhile having to click ok. after each error msg.
I have searched the web and MS knowledge base, this looks like a sub seven virsus but scans are good and no other signs.
I got rid of it by going into Tools, Internet options, Advanced, and unchecked the box that said ENABLE THIRD PARTY Browser Extensions.
However that also got rid of my google toolbar, which I really like because it blocks popups. If I reinstall google toolbar, I get the error again.
I noticed that MS is touting their own web search bar with latest version that is causing the problem. So are they trying to muscle out google as they did Netscape.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mike
