I'm a Fish!
Hello, I am new to the Scubaboard. My question is for all the instructors out there. I recently visited Utila and witnessed an IDC & IE in action. It was very interesting due in large part because of my own interest in becoming a instructor.

What I observed was that their teaching techniques included sign language. Not the typical american sign language you would use to communicate w/ the hearing impaired but their own scuba sign language. My question is what is the value in this? Why is this not part of the PADI teachings? etc... I would appreciate it if there is anyone out there that can shead some light on this topic. Thank you.:D

Thanks for the info. The links look very interesting. I appreciate the follow-up!

Regards,

Don’t forget to fill out your Public Profile (and Dive Info) on one of your next surface intervals so we can get to know you a little bit better. Besides, it will make it easier for us to answer your questions. If you’re not in a particularly creative mood, you can have a look at my Public Profile for inspiration.

Thanks for the hearty welcome! I appreciate the feedback! As always, being new to something takes awhile to get familiar w/ the proper protocals. I'll take this question away to a instructor forum.

Thanks again!
