A short while ago I purchase a new HP hose. The spool from the original would not fit. I was really surprised by this. The shoulder/widest part of the spool was just a hair to big. I picked up a new spool and it slid into the new hose without a problem, reinstalled the gauge and all is well.

Old thread I know but someone might benefit, regarding the spool oring installation.

I use an ordinary pencil eraser,
lube the oring place it on the eraser,
put the edge of the spool on the oring and just push down.
the oring will pop onto the spool no worries, works 1st time every time and its easier and faster than using a bullet.

Thanks for the tip, I will need to try it. I was thinking of using a wooded skewer as a bullet but I will try the eraser method.
