I flooded my D-2000 after years and years of use without a problem. Like you, I flooded the battery compartment, and there were some water droplets in the bulb cavity. I'm sure it was an o-ring problem. The o-rings on the battery compartment of that style take a lot of wear and tear with the screw cap of the battery compartment, so I replace them when they lose their shape, but maybe this one was at the end of its life and just twisted a tiny bit and didn't make a good seal.

I live in Thailand and there's no service facility here, but there is one in Kuala Lumpur (as well as in Singapore and Japan), so I sent it down there. The fixed it pretty quickly and it was a lot less expensive than buying a new one. I think it cost about $200 for the repair. It works just fine now.

I like the washer solution. I think I'll try that, even though I'm certain that this wasn't the cause of my flood.

I am pretty meticulous when it comes to my camera and strobe so i am surprised that this happened. i lube and check often. i got the arm with the strobe so when i get home tomorrow i will check with the place i got it from and also see under magnification and a feeler gauge if they sent me a long screw. At any rate, i hope that it can be fixed of replaced at a minimum of cost since i do like the way it works. It is beyond me that they would make a mount that is susceptible to any length of screw.

Sorry for the confusion, I used the plural because I have two strobes. I simply put a washer under the head of each hold down bolt to increase the gap between the end of the bolt and the strobe case when I
screwed it down.

Thanks a lot I can see what you are saying now I will have a close look at mine as my connection is different.
