Hmm, coming from ikelights with static o-rings that’s a tad annoying sounding, to be honest.

I’ve been leaning towards the new s220s, but that gives me slight pause. Seems like an opportunity to get some dirt or sand in there. Especially if on a live aboard, I like to swap batteries between dives (never hurts to have fresh packs!).

Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by Ike on this aspect though.
Obviously you have not dove with Ikelite stobes in sandy conditions. The battery lever/clamp release gets PACKED with sand and needs to be very carefully rinsed without flooding the battery pack. And you can only clean the battery pack when it's detached. Horrible design. I used them for about 10 years.

The clamps that hold the battery pack and the strobe head together would collect a lot more than just sand. I've had algae, bit of kelp, a worm, etc. get in there. The only way to really clean this easily was while it was in the rinse tank.
