I read some reviews on tripadvisor.com that ILR is for sale and may not remain open as a dive resort. I was thinking of taking a trip there in late February.
Anyone have more recent info on the status of ILR and current conditions there?

Thanks.

A guy in our club just returned and said the rumors are true, the place has already been sold to someone named Steve R. who was at the resort. He plans to enlarge and enhance it, build a new swimming pool, a 60 slip boat marina, and market to a wider range of activities including scuba. Sounds like a Fantasy Island in the works. If that is correct it will still be a dive resort just not the charming family-owned resort it is now.

Hmmm, too bad, I rather liked the small, family run operation. Service was very personal.

My wife corresponded with Emily a couple of times over the last couple of weeks setting up our early February trip. This will be our sixth trip in the last three years. According to Emily, the sale has not been completed (as of today 12/10) but is still moving forward and should be completed soon. There should be no changes in the operation of the inn untill late in 2008. I read the the review on tripadvisor and I don't quite understand their concern. There is always some little thing going on but that is part of its charm. The sale started last summer and when we were there in July it was pretty much common knowledge to everyone associated with the inn.

My wife and I are going to miss Donna and Andy as we got to know them fairly well during our visits and they always treated us very well. The place is a great value and the diving is very good. We expect the same when we get there in February.

Nothing remains the same. If you want to savor the Bay Islands, go now. That way, you'll be able to say, "I remember when".

You shoulda' seen Cayman in 1970.

HowieDean on this board works there part of the year - send him a PM for info???

Last time I was down there I heard Anthony's Key was for sale with an unbelievable asking price of $50 million.

Doc, I remember when....:(
Bahamas, Caymans, NethAntillies, even parts of the Keys were nice - They are all OK 'n nice now but before the mom and pops were bought out, they had a different feel...

I hope Andy & Donna made out on the sale - very nice friends and hosts. Theysaid they were heading for Chile as their adopted son was not allowed in the US for some obtuse INS reg...
