I enjoyed the food and didn't find the diving chaotic. Regardless it sounds like you want a high end beach resort which you will not find in Sorong. Bali is probably your best bet for that in Indonesia!

Absolutely not high end, so if it came off that way it was in error. If I wanted that I'd go to Meridian which seems like the most hotel / comfortable of all. Prefer a hut on the beach with a shady place to nap and listen to the ocean. The rooms at Bio actually look less hi end than Papua Paradise.

We’re going to RA in July, doing both a lob and land based diving.

To try to mitigate the jet lag a bit we’re doing 2 nights in Jakarta at FM7 (well actually only 1 night, then fly out a 1 am the next). We arrive in Sorong at 6.15 am and plan to take the 9 am ferry to Waisai.
I booked 2 nights with Scuba Republic as
1: it’s close to Waisai (30 min drive)
2: it’s fairly cheap
3: once we get there I know we just want to start the diving, as that’s our best trick to overcome jet lag
4: we want to do a trip to Kali Biru so better to stay on the island

Finally: our lob pick us up in Waisai - no matter where you choose to stay I would ask the boat if it’s possible to join in Waisai so you don’t have to go back to Sorong.
Our pick up is around 6 pm, so we’ll have plenty of time to do some dives or the trip to Kali Biru.

After I booked with Scuba Republic I saw someone recommend dive into Raja Ampat and the resort and beach looks really nice.

While on holiday in Greece in summer 2023, we met a diver, who took his OW at biodiversity resort and he wholeheartedly recommended the place, so if you’re ok with the extra boat trip just go for it
