As most of you know, the GoPro video camera has quickly taken the recreational and technical SCUBA community by storm. One only has to do a search on YouTube for "GoPro" and "SCUBA" and you will be directed to thousands of user videos. A few years ago, I started experimenting with one to see how it would work with different lighting options in a total darkness environment. That work has lead to the development of 2 different "platforms" for using the GoPro in the overhead. The project has been written up and appears as a Technical Bulletin that's been posted on the National Association for Cave Diving (NACD) website. It is here at this link: Equipment and Technology. Go to the bottom of the page and pick the PDF version of "Successful Use of the GoPro Video Camera in the Overhead Environment." There are URL links to a bunch of images (even some of Crazy Jack), different manufacturers, and re-sellers, that offer the parts discussed, as well as 4 videos that were put together.

If you don't do anything else, you should at least check out "Example Video #4...it's a must see! It will give you a great overview of what cave diving is all about and what you can expect to see in a typical floridian aquifer environment. I've gotten quite a bit of feedback that it's one of the the better "tours" of the Devil's System out there right now. It's at this link here: Example 4 NACD Tec Bulletin on the GoPro Camera - YouTube It is best viewed in HD 720, or 1080, if you have the bandwidth.
