I've gotten attitude from rangers at Mansfield already. I parked in a place big enough for 3 cars in order to unload to the pavilion. There are three parking lot bumpers and no signs or pain stripes to indicate no parking. My car was there for a good six hours and there were never more then two other cars in the parking lot. I came up from one of my dives and was told that the ranger was looking for me.

Next thing I know she tracks me down and starts chewing me out saying that I can't park on the grass ( I wasn't ) and that it's not a parking space that it's for loading only. Well, I didn't feel like getting into it with her so I just told her "yup, we're loading now".

Talking to the aquarius people that I met on a wednesday, the rangers used to be really cool but over the years the relationship have faded and the new guys are a-holes.

    You're lucky. I got a ticket.

A while ago I parked in the upper parking lot at Mansfield. Park was pretty much deserted. After diving found the ticket on the car. Apparently the upper parking area is only to be used by people with camping permits. The guy at the Guardhouse was nice enough to cancel it. Pissed me off though.

So has anybody done any work on the Traverse Line? The last time I was down, the line only went to the 3rd or 4th stake (don't quote me on that), and appeared a boat anchor destroyed the line after that. That was about a year ago, or so.

    Let's do it!

The GTTP ends on a stake next to the river channel just out of the trees. We found the line loose one dive and did not have new stakes to secure it. I have a big Magnus scooter now and could help get it back to the other bank if we can make some more stakes.

Wait until August and we'll be able to walk the line to the far shore...
