I dove a wreck last weekend and have no clue what the name is.
it is between key west and fort jefferson in the dry tortugas.
you can see the mast and the crow's nest sticking out of the ocean from far away.
the wreck lays in only about 20' of water and I was told it belonged to mel fisher.
any info about it would be helpful.
thank you

That is the former USCG ARBUTUS.

Basic information on the vessel:

BTW, that is the wreck Jimmy Buffett is sitting on, as seen on the back of his album "Songs You Know By Heart."

She was impacted by Wilma last year, and I would guess the next big one might bring the mast down. Last time I was there you could climb the mast and then jump in from about 20 feet up.

Cheers,
Mike

thank you sooo much Mike.
that's the one.

funny story. my buddy (in his 50's) was out in the keys lobstering, and a huge yacht pulled up. turned out it was jimmy buffet. he pulled up next to them, came over and asked for directions to the ship. he gave them the info, and off they went! small world, huh?
