inflator hose

I bought a single tank wing oxycheq sug#45 with o-pack and weight pockets. I take lessons dec tep with a NAUI guy and he gives me a double tank -2x12l- wing (dive rite double rec) with a bp.
two questions:
1) the inflator hose from dive rite has almost a twofold length than the oxycheq. Who's wrong? what is the right lengh?
2) with the oxycheq single tank sig#45 is it better to take a ss bp than o-pac with pockets (it seems to me the dr bp can work with the oxycheq)

p.s.: what I call inflator hose is the "thing" between the wing and the inflator!

I would like to dive safe and are not well educated for tek diving. So I take courses... :D
If the thing (hose) is too long, it's not very good. And if it's to short, I increase my air consumption up 40l/mn to find the inflator.
What is the good length?
For SS BP instead weight pockets and o-pack, is it a good idea? (I forget to ask if it's necessary to ave an STA with DR plate and oxycheqwing sig45)

If you loop a small piece of bungee on your left harness houlder strap about where your d-ring is and run the inflator hose threw it then you shoud not have a problem locating it. The longer inflator hose canbe a potential entanglement hazard and a longer hose just isn't needed.

Are you using the inflator hose for dumping air from your wing? You shoud try using the rear pull dump on the wing, as it is better to use when you are in a horizontal position.
 
From what I understand the inflator should be just long enough to get to your mouth for manual inflation. Any longer is an entanglement hazard and any shorter just won't reach :)

The inflator on my new DTD wing is exactly the right length.

That's a good idea because I don't know if there is a "fenstop" and maybe it's difficult to change the "inflator hose".

you don't want the inflator in your mouth during the dive, you just want it so you can bring it to your mouth. If its reachable by mouth without touching it, it would be in the way of your back up reg.

You do not have to get back vertical to get back to the boat. I personally do my ascents horizontal, but since it is a piece of bungee being used to hold the inflator in place you can still raise it enough to dump if you are vertical.
