No, you should check yourself and your comments. The OP asked where can he find a decent gauge cheap. I gave him a link to a reputable shop that sells quality gear at reasonable prices. What did you add to the post, nothing but sarcasm. A "smile" does not negate your comments. Perhaps you should read the post "Why is DIR so conterversial" people like you add to the controversy.

You seem to have a reading comprehension problem or you missed the context of my reply. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just figure you want to flame and are totally ignorant of the post I replied to. Go back and read it again and if you still don't get it, then we'll know it's a reading conprhension issue and maybe you can get some help for that.

I was kind of surprised that none of the "don't be cheap on your safety" guys had no response to the guy who bought a used gauge on E-bay.
So was I. I expected to hear that I at least needed it to be checked out by my LDS, etc. I used it the other day and it even worked. I had hoped at the very least I would need to replace the spool o-rings. Unfortunately, it seems to work perfectly. At 28 bucks I should have bought 2 of them.

Robert, I do not have reading comprehension issues nor do I flame or troll. If you look at your posts, you are the one that is resorting to flaming not I. Perhaps you have a communication problem or need anger management therapy.

I am not sure what the statistics are but a good amount of divers stop diving. So you can find some good bargains on ebay if you know what you are looking at and realize that things need to be serviced. The problem is with inexperienced divers or know it all divers, that feels it does not need to be checked.

One thing you may want to try is to measure the air pressure with your SPG before taking your tank in to be filled and then measure the tank pressure at the dive shop using their pressure gauge. That way you can see how accurate your gauge is at low tank pressures.

I agree that you need to know your gear . I maintain all my equipment, overhaul regs, etc. so I feel comfortable buying on ebay IF the price is right. I know I can work on it and fix problems. Ebay can be treacherous for those folks not familiar with gear or what stuff is really worth. I have the tools and manuals, etc. but not as much money as I would like to spend. If I can't get a deal on something, I don't buy it. My kids college is more important than my diving.

It's people like you that give diving a bad name!

I know I shouldn't have done that, but I couldn't resist.

And if I have to put a smiley on this or else you won't get it...I HATE SMILEYS!!!

BAH! And now I'm broke and I can't get the gauge for a while anyway! At least I got some good sources when I'm ready. Thanks you all, and....jeez, don't be so touchy!

:rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: Good one/ I know where you are coming from. It is either Ebay or convincing a judge I am the father of Ana Nicole Smiths' latest baby.

OK! I finally got my brass SPG! I got it from Dive Sports online, and it's an XS scuba full-size unit. With shipping, and the ScubaBoard discount, I paid about $65 total. Way less than a lot of others, about half, actually, and it looks like the same gauge. So I guess that's how much my life is worth!

I bought my Scubapro Brass SPG for $75 at the LDS. It came with a hose and everything! I bought it during a sale though too.

The XS scuba guage is identical to the Dive rite guage, just less expensive. There are tiny o-rings that fit on the spindle that rides in the hose at the guage/hose junction. I suggest you carry a few of those o-rings. I had one blow on a dive trip and had to do a dive with no SPG. Okay, I didn't have to, I chose to. Isn't it unbelievable that I'm still alive?
