I’d like to be able to dive in the local lake for tune up dives or gear checks before trips. The only LDS in town closed and the nearest one is around an hour away. I could theoretically get a tank if I had a place nearby for fills. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an industrial tank fill company? Not a LDS but a company that has air specs suitable for SCUBA quality air. Has anyone ever found such a place where they live? I know places exist to do O2 fills but not sure about just air. I may check the local fire department but if I can find a commercial source that would be great. Thanks for any info.

Check local fire stations. ome might fill for you, especially if you know someone but you'll need a Yoke/DIN adapter unless they already have one.

Yeah I’m going to ask a firefighter that I know used to dive also for the inside scoop but I’d like to not rely on that if possible.

I’m the last person who knows jack about industrial work but it seems workers may need an air tank to inspect something like void in a ship or other structure. Just don’t know if it would be SCUBA quality air.

There appears to be a company called Airgas in town that does industrial tank fills including different grades of air. I’ll go there tomorrow and see if any of it is SCUBA quality. I’ll post an update if anyone else is in a similar situation and may be wondering if such an option exists.

FYI, grade E is basically nitrox 21 -- very clean. I don't know what "normal" air is graded. Also no idea if fire stations use the same grades...

The big industrial gas suppliers seem to be moving to a model of not actually filling any cylinders at their retail outlets. They only do exchanges.

Any dive clubs in your area who might have a compressor? Or a college with a dive program?

Didn’t think of the college thing. I think the local college has a marine science program. Maybe they have a compressor.
