Can anyone confirm that the fee for the visa-on-arrival in Bali can be paid in Singapore dollars. I know you can pay in US dollars.

I am fairly sure you can use Sing Dollars when you enter through Batam, but according to:

http://www.baliguide.com/visa_regulations.html

It's USD only.

Even if you have US dollars, you need to have the exact amount. The cost as of July '04 was 25USD, but if you gave them a 100 dollar bill the visa was 100 (i.e. no change).

Good Luck.

As I recall they do provide foreign exchange so that you can buy USD at the booth - Howevr the exchange rate is very poor so I would definitely recommend bringing the 25 USD for a one month visa (or 10 USD if you only stay 3 days). Note that if you are a citizen of one of the ASEAN member countries, the visa fee is waived.

Err, I think you were robbed.
I have bought visas several times for indonesia, and not had a problem getting change.
The exchange rate for sing dollars does tend to be bad though.
Incidently try to avoid US dollar notes with serial numbers starting with CB ($100 especially), lots of places in asia won't accept them as there has been some sort of fraud.
