Hi All

I am considering buying some gear online. Please don't start in on me about supporting my LDS. I do whenever possible but at this point the prices of BCDs and Regs locally are forcing me to either buy from the States or buy used.

That said, I am wondering if anyone on SB has purchased these types of items on line from Diver's Supply, Scuba Toys, Joe Diver etc and had them delivered to Canada. Specifically I need to know if there are any extra taxes or terrifs when the goods cross the boarder.

Any help you could offer would be appriciated.

I don't know the tax differences but whatever you do don't let the shop ship your stuff with UPS or you'll end up paying twice as much. UPS charges some obscenely high brokerage fees for importing stuff to Canada from the US. Just do a search on UPS and Canada and you'll read some horror stories.

For Both Newb@40 and DMBlack58 contact scuba toys, they have some deal with UPS that keeps the shipping reasonable. When I've ordered the shipment has been at my door two or three days later at a very reasonable price.

If (HA! when) I need new gear they will be my first choice.

Fedex, DHL, and USPS are your friends...UPS is the devil incarnate.

Good luck.

-J.-
