What is this "BCD pocket" you speak of?
Wear it like a dog tag from your neck. :D

Actually, you can see my mirror line in my current avatar.

I got my DAN tag before mirrors were included and you cannot see my dog tag under my shirt in this pic.

Tempting. And so many popsicle flavors to choose from. Taste the rainbow.:pinkdolphin:

I just recently signed up for DAN insurance, and after reading this post I am thinking about getting the tag (I didn't even know about them before this). I logged into the DAN site, and it describes the tags as "The DAN Tag is made of translucent, high-impact quality aircraft acrylic that is negatively buoyant and water-resistant at any depth"

Is it really negatively buoyant? What is the point of that?? Shouldn't it be positively buoyant so that if it accidentaly falls into the water it just sinks straight down?

Hey, I am happy to see some yes votes - and hope many will change...

It is negatively buoyant and if it fell in by itself, it'd sink. To make it float would require air pockets, making it larger, and I think it'd tend to get in the way. Mine is very secure on my BC - not about to fall off.

DandyDon:
Do you have a passport? Like I said...
I do and with it and a $5 bill I can get a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Also, at all the hospitals I have worked at, we were not allowed to turn away a person in need of true emergency care regardless of ability to pay. Granted they were all in the USA, but if proof of payment is necessary prior to treatment in some other country then maybe I don't need to be diving there.

I chose the not always or no option because I don't have a DAN tag, nor am I a DAN member. Nor do I have dive specific insurance. Will I get dive insurance? Probably not. Can I afford a chamber trip or two? Again, probably not, but thats part of why I dive conservatively--protecting what meager assets I do have.;)

Dude! You're joking, right? Its so cheap!

Ahh but with passport and a Multi-Entry Visa, (and a whole bunch of $5 bills,) you can go to Moscow! Which, without a passport, you otherwise could not accomplish :D

But there is one drawback to Russian hospitals. You need to pay the bill in full before leaving. They take American Express. A buddy of mine had to put $18,000.00 in hospital costs on his AmEx to get his buddy out of the hospital so he could be medivaced home.

So....if you don't have DAN insurance....don't go diving in Russia!

This same situation is pretty common in other countries as well...so if you don't have DAN insurance, don't go diving in lots of other countries either!

(Why did you get that passport again?)

;)

Don't have a multi-entry visa, just the passport and some $5 bills. Is there a Starbucks in Moscow? Sheeeesh I'm not even a fan of Starbucks:D

Nope, not joking. My insurance is located between my ears and behind my eyeballs. I'd rather spend the money on training, learning and understanding diving, with the specific goal of never needing the services of DAN.

BTW, I'm not anti DAN. I just prefer to not need their services.
