I have 300 dives on mine, my BC doesn't go in the water without it, and I don't dive any other BC. It goes in when I go in so if I am found or rescued needing help, they have the info they need immediately - especially the financial guarantees.

Other colors available, signal mirror on back

If my home buddy got hurt on a trip with me (he doesn't dive otherwise), I know his family and how to reach them - but if he needed emergency help and I didn't know where his billfold was, I'd be challenged to get the info fast enough.

Yeah, I know there are other dive Ins Companies, but there is only one DAN - and nothing can compare. Insure elsewhere if you wish, but keep your $29/yr DAN membership.

Then, hope you never need it badly.

thank you

I don't have a DAN tag, but had a dog tag made up. This has my name and some other details including my DAN number.

They can be made quite cheaply and changed if you need to. $10: full stainless steel, double sided engraved and a SS chain.

im guilty of not attaching my DAN tag to my bc... and i should!!!!!

will do DD and wil post pic to show you

How come I didn't get a DAN tag with my membership?

TY! Set a good example and save your cute butt. ;)

The $10 dogtag is an ok idea. The $20 DAN Tag can be bright colored and includes a signal mirror.

Both would not be too much...

Not a part of membership, and I guess you ignored the invitation. Get one now. :D

i think i would prefer the DAN tag.. its bright and stands out and im guessing other (newer) divers might ask about it if they see it... spread the word around

as someone that has had to phone DAN in the past its reassuring to get that number quickly

edit:
oh and you need another option DD - "i didnt but now i will"

Nah, we'll just call that the only acceptable excuse.

I'd love to see pics of BCs with DAN tags...

I write my name, address and DAN # on my fanny before every dive. It's alot cheaper. :D

I'm not sure why you think one is so critical. I dive with buddies who know me and I make sure and have my DAN card with my c-cards so they can get to it if needed. Why do you feel they're so critical? Maybe I should change my mind.

I chose the not always or no option because I don't have a DAN tag, nor am I a DAN member. Nor do I have dive specific insurance. Will I get dive insurance? Probably not. Can I afford a chamber trip or two? Again, probably not, but thats part of why I dive conservatively--protecting what meager assets I do have.;)

Naw. I keep mine on my mask case. My buddy is well briefed on where to find it and when to call.
