Many (many) years ago, I decided to bring a bottle of horchata syrup back to the states for my younger brother. I wrapped the liter glass bottle in a bunch of clothing and put it in the middle of the hard-sided American Tourister suitcase. When I got to US customs, I was tapped for inspection. I put the suitcase up on the counter and the customs officer opened the lid. White, stringy, goopy syrup had saturated the entire contents of the suitcase. Everything was stuck together. The inspector looked at the mess for a minute as he held open the suitcase lid, then laughed, closed it, and snapped the latches shut. That was the last time I tried that.
