Well the trip to Rincon was in short awesome. I was there for 4 days prior to a cruise to the southern carib. Taino was a great dive group. I did have the opportunity to dive with emily for one day but did not get your reply until after I left for my trip. You do board the dive boats from the beach but it is easy and takes minutes. The island of Desecheo is beautiful and definately worth a few days in Rincon. We did see several lion fish during our dive. We did not see whales on the 3 days of diving but on the second day we heard constant whale song which was amazing in itself. Most of the diving on the island is coral and swim throughs etc. We did see a few sharks, hawksbill turtles, moray eels, dolphins (on the boat ride out), and a sting ray. I spent a night dive on a pier which was amazing. Rincon is a sleepy little surf town but a lot of fun for a few days.\
Apparently West Divers was doing very well and then a partner backed out of the buisness and it crumbled. It is apparently slowly coming back but is not very reliable. The other dive operations were frowned upon by the locals in Rincon but I did not personally travel to that part of the island. Taino was very careful not to be critical of any other dive operations so I didnt get much from them. Desecheo was awesome though. Be prepared for about a 45 min boat ride out and 45 mins back and the seas can get rough on the boat but as long as sea sickness is not an issue than the ride is worth it.
