Each fish is about the size of my head These aren't dainty or pretty... I'm leaning towards some type of jawfish, but not sure on the exact name...any ideas? Two different fish, two different dive sites...

I'd guess Opistognathus dendriticus (dendritic jawfish) based on skimming my reference books.

Remember, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I'd imagine a member of its opposite gender might find it quite attractive! In fact I think they're kind of cute myself and I'm definitely of the wrong species (and, I assume, the wrong gender as well).
