We just got off Morning Star this morning and had a chilly week in and out of the water. Remember the Dramamine too! A 7mm wouldn't hurt. Have fun!

2 weeks ago we had 75° as the high and a few (20%) at 72°F. I broke down and wore a 3mm vest the last 2 days, but did them in tshirt and shorts for the most part. But then I've been called a freak of nature before for my tolerance of cold water. Most folks on Pirates Lady were wearing full 3mm and still getting chilly after the 4th dive. I would definitely recommend a 5mm and a beanie if you are a normal human being. :)

We didn't have major wind but when it was breezy you really felt it! A windbreaker and/or a boat coat is a must. My son spent most of the time on deck in his hoody and was very glad to have it.

If you're sailing tomorrow with Blackbeard's it's probably too late to give you advice - but this might come in handy if you're sailing on the 30th (assuming the weather doesn't change dramatically). I took rain gear (like they recommended) and was really glad that I did. Someone told me I looked like I was going skiing but I was warm and didn't care! We had some strong winds that made it really chilly getting out of the water - and if the sun wasn't shining then it was chilly hanging around on deck as well. Check the weather ahead of time - call Blackbeard's and ask what they're recommending - they were right on the money with recommending at least a 5 mm (but my 5mm shrunk over the winter so I took a 3mm with a 2.5mm front zip vest - wish I'd rented a 5mm). My dive computer says that the bottom temp for every dive was 75.

The initial ride out to our first dive site was fairly calm, but just about every day after that we had some time during the day or night that we were rocking and rolling. I think that by the time the winds picked up enough to cause any issues everyone already had their sea legs so we didn't have anyone with motion sickness (as far as I know).

I was prepared with shorts and t-shirts, but when I wasn't in the water I was trying to stay warm and ended up wearing the same pants for 7 days straight (as did most everyone else)! I'm so happy to have my clothes in the washing machine - had a shower and dried my hair - and used a toilet that doesn't require pumping! We had fun and the crew were very helpful, but I'm happy to be back to the comforts of home.

Wow.. I guess temperatures dropped after I left. We were in the mid to upper 70s for minimum water temperatures although we did have a few days of wind.
