Even though that must have been going around the "net" for a while I hadn't seen it. Made me think of my friends in the military and yes, shed a tear.

What were you doing when you heard?

I was diving at France Lake in New Paris, OH when it happened, had my head blissfully underwater as part of New York's skyline fell. Rinsed off the gear and turned on the radio while loading the car and heard that the local university had been closed and several streets around the federal building downtown had been closed. I wondered what was going on downtown! I yelled to my dive buddy to turn on her radio, something was going on downtown (I still thought something was wrong in Ohio). Her station was telling what happened and she yelled for me to "get over here!" We sat in her truck and listened, stunned and crying. I will never forget the look on her face or tone of her voice when she looked at me and said, "Do you know how bad this is?" Brings tears to my eyes now just thinking about it.

I was sitting in my office when my secretary came in and asked me to turn on my radio. We listened in horror as a group gathered in my office to hear the news. We moved to a conference room where we could turn on the television, where we saw the second plane go in and the towers go down. At that moment we knew that the World had changed.

Northeastwrecks,

Ya know, I was sitting here thinking about that last line you mentioned ... Reading it over and over ... And I couldn't figure out why it didn't seem to sit right with me ... and then it hit me -

[red]"Did the World really change, or had the World been forced to WAKE UP and notices the Changes?"[/red]

My personal out take is the latter...

I always loved "History", because it often explains the present and tells the Future with Great accuracy ...

And the unfortunate reality is it would seem that as a society, we were asleep as the wheel. When it doesn't take but 2 seconds searching to find what seems like entire countries rejoicing over what happened in New York, and also just as easy to find, are all the "How could this have happened on US Soil" ... That has got to make you think!

Now maybe some of this comes from my experiences during extensive travels around the world in the Military (Army SF) but it did not surprise me that much. That doesnt change what happened at all and makes things no less worse but as has been said many times before, It is sad that it took this to bring us back to reality.

My son was home on leave from the Navy and we went to Florida to visit relatives.

We were on our way to do some clay pigeon shooting when we got the news. Of course, it ruined our time together.

We drove back to Midland, and he was recalled from leave.

He's on the Kitty Hawk, somewhere in the Arabian Gulf. I hear from him when emails are allowed.

Yes, it hit home!
