I read somewhere on here that a lot of places close during October - any ideas as to why? We're schd to stay a week on Ambrigris in Oct & just saw this for the 1st time? Also, we've done the blue hole twice & would like to go out & dive the atolls around that area, but no real desire to do the blue hole again & I know a lot of operations include that on a trip to that area. Any suggestions on shops that will do 3 dives out there & not the blue hole? Thx!

Shops close during October as it's the quietest time for maintenance/holidays etc.

Depending on how many you are, you may be able to persuade an operator to run a private trip to Lighthouse Atoll to do three wall dives. I used to do that when I had my dive centre. The standard trips will all include the BH as the first dive.

Thanks! Will there still be dive shops & restaurants open?

There will be 4 of us. That's what we're hoping for... #Lighthouse reef. Thanks again!

There will be some open, tho' others will be closed. Where will you be staying - you need to be a little more specific.

We are renting a house on the north end of the island - about 6 miles north of San Pedro. We normally book our diving ahead of time - but had a not so great experience last trip so decided to wait until we get there to see what we can find. I was counting on some great grub though - I'll be sad if some of our favorite spots are closed - or if we can't get the diving we want to.

If they're open you'll find no problems with Elbert Greer's White Sands Dive Center, located at Las Terrazzas Resort (next to the old Journey's End). Not too far from where you'll be staying.
