Sorry for the late reply, but I'm a noob on the board. We dove Cabo late Sept last year. Water was fairly warm, vis was not great. Dove there again in April, water was cold and vis even worse. The Sea lion colony was awsome! We went up to Cabo Pulmo and did a couple dives there. Be advised... the current can be VERY strong. Our wives only having been certified a year earlier, were border line panic. We were not expecting a drift dive and had not prepared them for what to expect. That being said, the diving itself was worth the drive up. I was told the vis should be better in the fall, unless a big storm gets to close. Have a great dive!

What are conditions generally like in Feb?
From a 2001 fishing report: (eh, I'm still in post-vacation after-glow, and also Googling for my own benefit, too ;) )

Referring to CSL: Water temperature, 68-71.5. Air temperature, 75/55. Humidity, 77%. Wind, 9-12 Knots(Pacific), 10-14 Knots (Sea of Cortes).

And from the same report:
"...coolest month of the year, where average high temperature are 75 degrees and unpredictable winds from the north can cause havoc. "

I usually have to take a coat on the dive boat with me and sit wrapped up in it during the SIT. I wear a long with a short over it and a hood to dive Cabo in February. I do get cold fairly easily, but the DM usually is wearing the same. The visibility wasn't that great from 30 - 50 foot, looking back at my dive logs from Feb 02 and Feb 03 and Feb 04. But I noted lots of fish to look at and the sea lions are cool.
I always go with Amigos Del Mar, they have the best boats, good DMs, are safety conscious and speak English.

ok i started this thread, now i say "Hola from Cabo San Lucas" vis is 30-70 feet and water temps are 80-85 degrees. I haven't dove yet, but will try.

....for your daily reports,(or when you get back), hope you have some fantastic diving!
5 days 'til I'm there.

did a dive, it was pretty good, although my first tripical dive, so i am comparing with cold mask+ visibility and kelp, but i liked it, this mexican computer is twitchy so I will write more when i get back, BTW internet access here is free in CSL in a little market inside the costa real hotel.

OK, here is my detailed report. I dove Pelican Rock, a 1 tank dive one afternoon with myself and a dive master. The DM seemed pretty salty and had gear that was in desperate need of repair and replacement (I am glad I brought my own) but he knew the dive site and was otherwise a decent guide. Dive profile was a multilevel dive with a max of 71 feet for 31 minutes. Visibility was maybe 30 feet but the water temperature was said to be 85, i used a 3mm shorty but didn't need one at all. There was a resident white tip reef shark that poked about during the dive and was interesting to watch. Not much coral, but abundant fish of all types, eels, angelfish, pompanos, schools of damsels, perch and others that I haven't identified positively yet. I reccomend a dive if you are in the area, but I don't know that I would make it a destination for a dive trip.
