A group went to Wellington lake on 11th Feb for a couple of ice dives. I had been looking forward to this all year, but on Thursday I blew my knee out in the gym and the whole trip was seriously in doubt. With the help of a substantial brace and a quick re-planning of my rig, I was able to get in the water and even help with gear movement. Unfortunately, some management issues with my 'gimp' rig and finning issues with the brace kept both my dives pretty short, but it was still a good way to spend a day, blown knee and all.

Conditions: Visibility was 3ft-7ft. Water temp was 39-41. The weather was great, ice thickness about 18". The bottom of Wellington is deep ooze with a white film covering it. I saw no fish, though others in the party reported seeing some small ones.
Surgery on Tuesday, no diving for probably 6 weeks
