I'm wanting to take an Ice Diving course this winter in the Seattle, WA area.

Anyone know of local dive shops offering this class?

Where are the closest places to go ice (overhead environment) diving?

How about the best places?

We rarely have any ice cover here. I have seen thin ice cover on salt water up in Canada in midwinter. Eastern Washington may have some lakes with reliable ice cover, but I doubt it gets thick enough to walk on. Maybe Rick Inman will chime in with that information.

Come on over to E. WA when it gets cold! We've got PLENTY of ice for you to dive under. I know of two shops that do ice diving classes, and if you PM me before you come, I'd be glad to connect you with a class.

Really, when it gets that cold and there is snow everywhere and the lake is covered with frozen glass, it is one of the more peaceful and beautiful times to dive. The water is clear and there is a quiet to the diving that has to be experienced to be appreciated.

And for safety reasons, we never dive too far from a Starbucks. :eyebrow:
