The rectabgular province in the center of Canada doesn't change their clocks either.

Can't say that there's spectaculr diving either, however..........

:sigh: can't have it all

And - here we're going to do it again. I hate this!! :censored:

Yeah, and it's a hoot to leave Texas for Roatan while we're in DST. Roatan is about on line with Atlanta, but keeps Central Standard Time. It's like flying east to Florida and observing New Mexico time!

I guess this will happen again in June when I go to Belize, too!

It occurs to me we get extra daylight in the spring and summer evenings, regardless of what time it is. It's all astronomy. So why fool with DST? IMO, all the classic reasons for it are pretty much bogus.

I would rather stay on DST than standard time. My main problem is I have clients in areas where they do not change the clock (Guam and Arizona). It takes me awhile to figure out what time it is there. I travel so much that the clock change here does not bother me.

Thanks for the reminder.

Years ago I was traveling alone during the time change. I didn't remember about the change and my plane left on the Sunday morning of the change.

I got to the airport and hour early thinking I had tons of time. When I checked in for the flight, the gate agent said, "Your plane is close to take off." I said, What? I have an hour." Then it dawned on me about the change.. I looked at her in horror.
She said "Run!"
I made it and they closed the hatch right behind me. ( Of course this was the days way before 911)

If I'm not mistaken, Arizona, Indiana, Alaska and Hawaii are the only four states that do not observe Daylight Savings Time. There's no real need for Hawaii to.
Alaska does. It's stupid though - with <6 hours of effective daylight in the dead of winter and 24 hours of effective daylight in midsummer, it's pretty useless, but the powers that be want Juneau (the capitol inaccessable by land) to be on the same time zone as Seattle:rolleyes:

Not only are we dumb enough to do DST, we do Super Daylight Savings Time for most of the State.

A few years ago Alaska changed time zones from 4 to 2 so it would be more convenient to contact the State Capital and do business with America.

So, with Super Daylight Savings Time Solar Noon is actually at 1400(2:00pm) for most of the State.

Plus, we are always going to work or to home in the light or dark anyway without a time change.

Dumb!

I'd prefer to stay on DST myself. I hate Spring ahead. I feel tired for weeks! But on the flip side it's nice in autumn, falling back an hour.

I also get confused when I want to call my sister in Arizona. I can never remember if she is 1 or two hours behind me! LOL

While you weren't looking they snuck a time zone change in on you. Now SEA is a 1 hour difference for all three, JNU, ANC and FAI.

You're right -I remember when it was being discussed, though. Now that you mention it, it was decided Anc and Juneau needed to be in the same time zone.
The hour time change really doesn't bother me much, except when I forgot to change my clocks and showed up for work 1 1/2 hours early instead of just 1/2 hour. DOH! I still think it's stupid, though.
