I believe that there's going to be a serious interest from the local media, including news teams and the like. At least, I hope so.

It's my intention, once the location is settled opon, to alert the Discovery Channel and the National Geographic Channel to see if they have any interest in the story. Frankly, since there's no "exploration" content to the dive, but would only be a story about the event and the "human spirit" of it all, I think it would have a somewhat limited appeal. Nonetheless, I can imagine there might be some interest. I dunno... We'll have to see.

If you're asking me if we have a pro videographer on the team, the answer is no... Not yet.

I think we could use one. :) I'd especially be interested in someone who could not only handle the production himself, but could help to stay "in charge" of public relations in regards to production... In other words, keep other photographers and videographers "in line" with how we want to appear to the public.

I guess what I'm saying is that I need a producer. I also need a director.

Can I put you down as someone who might be interested?

Just found this thread today, sounds like a crazy, but well thought out plan.
If you do it in Florida, put me on you list of fools crazy enough to sit around on the surface, fill tanks, even swim down & play chess.

Best of Luck,

Well, you never know. I do have the equipment and production know-how and could possibly make the time. Give me a shout when you start having come specifics as to when and where.

I own my own PR firm. Specifically, my niche is "Defending Good Science," usually related to environmental risk and crisis communications.

I'd be happy to help out with the PR side of things -- if I can find a way to get down there and find a place to crash for relatively low $$$.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "PR Consultant!" What a very cool job that must be!

Yes, yes... I am sure that I'll be able to handle getting you a place for nothing or near nothing. That's no problem at all.

I'm still working on the "where" part... I haven't had any "yesses" yet.

The Marineland suggestion above was a great one. I'm still working with them, several parks in Florida, and of course Disney/Epcot has yet to answer me.

As soon as I know anything, I'll make sure that y'all are the first to know.

Man, this just rocks. I can't believe what talent we have here on this board...

Hia Seajay!!!

The Rutledge Inn has a reunion every few years held by the Naval survivors of WW.

I have spoken to the WW vets while in the pool, They were somber, friendly, but tread lightly of course... i was very interested in hearing the stories of survival. Perhaps a bit overzealous.. Perhaps u can call the Rutledge and see if they can hook u up with the group. There weren't too many left as i recall and this was a few years ago.

Good Luck:)

Very cool picture there. :D

Have we ridden together? I've been a bike week a few times in Daytona, and I've spent many days buzzing the tarmac in North and South Carolina, Tennesee, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, California...

You weren't part of the group that stayed with us in the spring of 2001 in Daytona, were you?

I take it that you dive, too, then? Where do you dive? I'm in Florida all the time, and have plans to be there a dozen times or so this summer...

No, I know you from a particular CBR list :D But you and I got along pretty well there, we grew up riding the same Yamaha GT-80 dirt bikes. Just kinda found you here :)

I've been diving for about 4 years now though, but just recently had my own issue with a crushed finger (Mini-van + M/C = Bad crash), so was geniunely interested in how the scar tissue was doing when diving on your hand.

When my collar bone is all healed up, I'de love to meet up and do a dive though. Let me know when your gonna be coming down. I'm in Orlando, so most places are an easy drive and don't require a lot of prep work, except the Keys.

PS. Me at the track

Oh yeah! I remember that conversation... Man, that was ages ago. I think I was still in Arizona at the time. :D

Heheheheee... The CBR list... Heeheheheee... Every once in a while I love to throw a mail bomb their way just to see 'em all run. I know, it's bad netiquitte, but they're just so much FUN. :)

Oh dude... I'm sincerely sorry. I did not get the ends of my fingers back, although I wasn't expecting to. I did get regrowth of my nails, though, and the scar tissue is not too unlike the skin around it. All of the nerve damage has softened quite a bit, and I am no longer in pain (lasted for months and was excrutiating). The scar tissue isn't even a different color, which is cool... Basically, it just looks like I have no fingerprint on each finger.

I'll send you pics if you'd like... The fingers actually look nearly normal... Just a little short.

It did inhibit my typing a bit at first, though... Now I'm nearly back up to speed. Strange not to be able to fully feel those keys with my fingers. Today, with the nerve damage having lessened and the skin having healed... And the compensation of relearning to type... Well... I hardly notice it any more.

Hey, man... That's really cool. Yes, I would love to hook up! We'd have a blast...

You know, this world record dive might be taking place in your neck of the woods... Assuming it all goes as I hope...

PS: Very cool track day pic. I miss my home track... Firebird, Phoenix Int'l Raceway... Man, I miss those days. :D
