Been fine with the simple octo holder.

(For people who may be reading and less familiar.)

For anyone who wishes to secondary donate, use a necklace, or any other "non standard" config, I recommend telling your dive buddy which regulator is theirs in an emergency.
"That one! Right there! That's YOUR emergency air source!" (pointing to the reg attached to his pony bottle).

What?

Here’s my regulator kit attached to my BCD using the double hose clips looks like.

I tried different kinds of Octopus attachments mentioned previously and got detached during a few of giant stride entries. This attachment seems to hold the Octopus better than the others.

The double hose clip also allows me to clip my primary 2nd stage regulator (with the blue hose) next to the Octopus when I’m not using it, as shown in the picture, above. I don’t need to reach out behind me and swipe my right arm to find the blue hose as it is right there attached to my BCD right shoulder D-ring.
Interesting idea… I’m going to try it.

Here they are the ones with great grippage

But without, the too much great grippage

I should also add that the octopus will still fall out with a snorkel keeper, just not as often as with all the other expensive garbage options.

I’ve had zero fall-out since I started making sure it got inserted past the mouthpiece zip tie.

Been using the one below for about 5 years now and never have any issues coming loose. I feed a loop of the octo hose into the round rubber part, I don't put the octo mouthpiece in there (you can, but I'm always concerned that yanking the octo out quickly might then pull the mouthpiece off when you need it most). My configuration worked great for octo drills during my Rescue Diver course.
That's what I use (with a HOG Zenith octo) and it falls out now and then. For the most part, it's ok, but sometimes I catch it slipping. I keep it, though. My instructor recommended the magnet. I may try it.

Beware the magnet. No matter where you go, the needle will be pointing at you.

I also use the scuba pro octo retainer & plug with clip. I have one in yellow and one in grey.
The Scubapro model has worked very well for me when I dive with a traditional recreational reg setup.

When inserting the regulator, put it sideways into the opening of the clip then rotate it into position versus just trying to shove it straight in.

Really like how that is setup. Going to have to add some of those clips to my gear bag to try out.
