Are you talking luxury at the hotel, or the dive op?

Many of the aforementioned places are spectacular, but the dive op's are a seperate business and not connected in any way with the resort.

If you want an unbelievable resort, the Four Seasons in Nevis is that and then some. But the dive op is just another island dive op. Nice service on the boat, but they're not going to dry you off when you get back on!

I had mentioned earlier wife is certified but does not dive. Dubai is that by the mal dives. That seems like it is a 30 hour travel from LAX. Thats just to far.

Well I know it's far but if we are talking about luxury - Burj Al Arab is probably the most luxurious hotel in the world. I stayed there (no, I'm not that rich - I was invited) and it's almost impossible to believe. At that time I didn't dive so I can't help you on the diving there.
When I went to my room, and what a room it was - bigger than my apartment in Warsaw - there was a bottle of the best champagne and strawberries half dipped in the chocolate.
But as the diving regions are concerned - take Four Seasons in Sharm - it's absolutely the best hotel there and the food is incredible. I went there for a party once - the hotel is gorgeous, much better than Sharm's Ritz.

I mentioned that one this morning, but I've never stayed there. A little expensive for my blood. I have heard that you get a free tour if you happen to drop in on the rooftop helipad with your own helicopter.

I would say it's bloody expensive. I don't know about the chopper - I simply came there by taxi. Ok, I know nothing original.
As I wrote - I was invited. None of the other hotels - including some of the most famous ones - compare to this. I felt like Sheherezada there.

I don't know that 'expensive' is even the right word. They charge about $35USD just to let you in to look around from what I understand. But you are correct; if you want to feel like royalty, this would be the place.

I know you mentioned no cruises....but this is about as different as the cattle boat experience you mentioned as you can get.

Check out Windstar cruises....Many of the ports, you're there till 11:00PM (plenty of time for dinner in a nice restaurant on shore)...they are a much smaller boat (guest count is around 150 or so) amazing service, a pool to lie by, and a watersports deck off the back...no need to organize a dive, do it from the boat and I'm sure they'll hand you a warm towel as you get back on the watersports deck . They take care of your gear (washing and such) if you like.

3 days dubai will do. on the way back you can always stay longer or take a short sidetrip for a few dives in furjairah or oman.

you and your wife can rent the island for just the two of you, or invite up to 18 guest for only $266,000.00.
i have dove very close to this island and the reef is in good shape with lots of wildlife.

Probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at was The Grand Hotel Of Stockholm.
The King and Queen of Sweden were due there for a banquet, and they let us take a peek at the banquet room, after it was set up.
Incredible.
But, you would have to bring a dry suit. :winky:
