I've had a 32# HOG wing for >10 years now. I was recently complimented for diving a "pink" wing (it started out bright red ) The wing has served me very well since purchase. It did develop a pinch flat, but since the cover has a zipper, it was a no-brainer to fix.

Would I purchase another, hell yes!!

Interesting discussion I think. Got me to thinking a little more targeted about more than just overall volume/bouyancy

Narrow is important, but as I think about it length might also be...in terms of the small pocket of air moving around and even getting trapped
A longer wing is going to potentially throw off head to toe trim

What do ya'll think is more important to keep small?
width? length? thickness?

I did some real quick googling for approx dimensions, in inches (")
and US$
most sites don't seem to list the 3rd thickness dimension, but I suppose left/right and head/toe are perhaps the most interesting for trim

I'd like to stay well <$300 but I through in a couple I found that are North of that for honorable mention. I ddn't even bother looking at the ones that are >$500

Hog 23#, 17.3" x 22.5", $239.95
DGX S1 30#, 13" x 23", $289
Deep Six, 30#, 18" x 26", $359.95 or $369.95
Alibaba 18#, 15.75" x 24", $256
Alibaba 30#, 16.93" x 25.2", $132
XS Scuba Highlander 20#, 14.2" x 21.7", $329.95 (this one looks pretty good to me but it's pricey)
Dive Rite Travel 25#, 16.25" x 24.5", $449
Apex D18 18#, dimensions not found but it looks narrow and long, $469 (this one looks VERY good to me but maybe too long?? and it's pricey)
Hollis 22#, dimensions unknown but it looks like a well proportioned nice shape although I'm unsure how I feel about the taper towards the butt end, but it's too pricey anyway $434.95

I'll have to measure my old Halcyon when I get home for comparison.

I actually think the Apex might possibly be the best looking shape of these to my eye but it does look long. A little bubble of air shifting from head to toe could throw trim haywire....

The DGX has solidly small length and width dimensions, which seems like it would be good
but to get 30# lift with that it must inflate to be pretty thick. Since it's narrow I'd think that it would resist taco folding, but does that mean it squeezes forward more pressing the diver's body?

Have any of ya'll dove with the DGX &/or the XS Scuba Highlander?

Just based on price, I can hardly resist ordering the one from China that @happy-diver linked, but it arrives scarily too close to my planned dive trip in early August
Personally, I think you’re overthinking this. Most of the main stream wings are good wings. Also, I, for some unknown reason, trust @happy-diver ‘s judgement in gear. So, it really comes down to what you want to spend, how much lift do you want. 30# and lower will do you well.

As far as use, I have an older, pre ‘24 Oxycheq brand, DGX wing that I love, and would buy one of their new wings without hesitation. You’ll find people that will say the same thing about most of the wings on your list. Just me, but a wing over $400 makes no sense, unless you can access the bladder for repair or replacement, and they have replacement bladders available. That’s one thing I like about the DGX, a zipper.

All the dive rites are on sale. Got the travel xt for $300 even I believe

Oh, one thing that hasn’t been mentioned, or I missed it, is to make sure that the slots in your plate will match up with any wing that you’re looking at. This can be a deciding factor, as well.

@bradlw
Send a message to Halycon and ask for opinion.
They might replace it FOC!
I did based on your suggestion. They confirmed that it can't be repaired. Not even an offer of a discount for a replacement. (Although I don't blame or criticize them for that... I was not expecting it as old as this thing is)
I know taht it can be fixed. There are ways to coat or recoat fabric. It's probably a urathane coating I'd guess.... but that's not my wheelhouse. I'd guess that odds are high if I putzed around with it that I could get it to seal.... but it would continue to be problematic with leaks springing up elsewhere.

I didn't see that when I was searching. Was that sale at a particular store?
Thanks, I'll look around some more this evening!

oh bother! I didn't think of that. I ass-u-me d that the plates would be somewhat of a standard pattern

Some of the plates have slot instead of a hole.
Not all the plates have the same design.
The distance between the centre of the holes is 11" or 28cm (if I am correct).
Some of the wings need Single Tank Adaptor.
