Any hands-on knowledge and insight here to help me compare these two?
(or any other similar price point suggestions?

I have a Halcyon single wing that I bought a couple of decades ago. I think it's about a 20# lift. I only dove it twice before life got in the way of diving and it went into storage. Recently, I dusted it off, replaced the LPI, the hose gasket, and the OPV and it all checked out nicely. Dove it a couple of days in the pool a few weeks ago and this past weekend a couple of shallow spring dives.

Now it's not holding air. I submerged it and found a steady stream of bubbles coming through the fabric near a weld point.
There's no way into it so I'm assuming that there is no inner bladder, just sealed canvas. The leak looks like it's just seeping through the weave of the fabric
It's a slow enough leak that it's still diveable at this moment, and the fabric seems to be strong, but I don't trust it. I wonder if there's a way to re-seal it? (but I rekon it's probably not worth the trouble, given its age)

It's a shame, I really like the wing. Looks new, it's a nice size and shape, and just the right amount of lift, I think. It's a very good-looking and clean design. It doesn't look at all like the one they show online now. Looks like the new one is zippered and is very different. Anyway, their new 20# wing seems to be $578

I see Diver's supply has the HOG-0121XX, 23# lift for $239.95
DGX offers their S1 DX-202010, much larger 30# lift for $289.00, it seems much longer which I'm not sure I'd like, but I do like the idea of the "pads to prevent tank roll", and 30# seems to be a little much
otherwise both the HOG and the DGX options look decent from what I can see.

I'm not seeing much else <$300, and not many <$400.

Deep Six offers a 30# for $359.95. It looks very nice. But again 30# lift seems a little much for my need here in Florida.
@LandonL , I see your BP/wing combo is available with either 20# or 30# wings. Why no 20# wing shown on the wing only page?

What do all the $400+ wings offer that these don't? Are these sub-$300 wings really that much junk?

30 lbs isn't too much. Despite marketing hype, you won't be able to tell the difference between a 20 & 30 lb wing in terms of drag. If surface conditions are rough, you'll appreciate the extra lift capacity.

Yeah...maybe so... but in simple terms it's about 5-quarts of empty bag.

I don't know about any marketing in this regard. This was just born out of my effort to simplify and streamline many years ago..and starting to think about what I really need.
Regardless, I don't see it in terms of drag. I'm not going fast enough for that to matter. It's more about trim, keeping the air in one place "more or less", and keeping the rig generally tucked in tight and neat.

But yes, I see your point. 5-quarts worth of "bag" is sizeable, but when spread around the perimeter of my little wing it isn't likely to be very noticeable

That said, I doubt that I really need 20# of lift either. It just seems to be about the smallest option.

Most of my dives before getting into technical stuff was using a Zeagle that was I think 48# lift. Now that was falling for marketing hype, and I believed for a long time that I needed that much! I still had a lot of good dives with that BC

@bradlw We no longer make the 20lb wing, I need to update the information. We stopped making it because it was less than 1" of difference in width compared to the 30lb wing, which was kind of redundant. You had to put them next to each other to tell which was which they were so close in size.

The 'stability' line of wings we make is nominally 30 lbs, but with tank compression is probably more like 25 lbs. It's definitely narrower than the 30lb wing, because the lift is redistributed.

The cool part of the stability wings though is the low profile elbow and recessed dump valves I put in the latest model, and our traditionally quick dry material, which is awesome for travel. The wing dries in 5 minutes in the sun.

@bradlw have you reached out to halcyon to see if they can do something to help you out?

other than the DGX which is really popular because it does everything you should need without being expensive, you are looking at niche cases where paying more for the apeks PSD/oxycheq mach V enviro (if you need chemical resistance) or the oxycheq extreme (you need a wing that is super cut resistant) can sort of make sense

I believe @happy-diver was doing some AilAba wings......

Thanks boss I'm glad I caught this one you see I don't open notifications I just go round through What's new

and round and round and round until I end up square

These really are great wings, I have a few and many name brands to compare them to too

Next to a faded immediately oxycheq

I might try and drive over one, on grass though is that okay
