I moved to Honolulu last January after spending several years diving the Monterey Bay. People love to dive here and there is plenty of work and many 'once a year' type of divers, but I miss the kelp forests.
The richness of life, the overall diversity of fish and invertebrates not to metion the wonderful colors and textures of the algea. Here the coral is flat and not very interesting, I have seen the same white tip reef shark way too many times now.
Oh well, maybe I'll be able to get back there someday.
