I'm a Fish!
Some how last night I lost my compass out of the top of my 3 gauge console. I have no idea how this happened. Has anybody else heard of this, or am I just the oddball ?

Jeez Louise, man, how'dya get back?

Can't comment as to whether or not you're an oddball or not, I'd have to know you better, but yours is the first I heard of that happening

Most of the consoles I've seen hold the compass pretty firmly, so either you didn't clip in totally when you last installed it, or maybe it got dislodged in transit, or like me, you remove it when servicing your regs, and it's still sitting on the table in your basement.

If you lost it on the reef, you're lucky the Scuba cops didn't fine you for littering.

Back when I used a console, I had this happen once. I think I knocked it loose on the dock and then it fell out. Conveniently, I found a nice compass underwater, just to find out later that it was mine.

I've lost a few compasses to the Sea Gods - - - one was part of the 3-gauge console and when I was getting back on the boat it got bumped or something and bye bye it went. another was snagged off by the boat ladder. I've switched to the compass on the retractor and it's been with me at all times. I definately suggest the removable compass such as on the retractor or a wrist or hose mount. It's a great option - since navigating on wrecks doesn't require a compass (unless you like swimming in circles!)

I had something like that happen once with a weight pocket. I was swimming along and here's a weight pocket. I was so excited because it was even the same type as mine. When I got it back to the boat, guess what, I was missing a weight pocket.

Imagine that, finding my weight pocket before I even noticed I lost it.

I went back out today to search for it. No luck, looks like the LDS is getting another one of my Hundered Dollar Bill. That should make them happy. It was a Uwatec and last time I took it out to clean under it was 5 or 6 dives ago (more than two weeks) and it was still hard to pop out.
I keep it tucked inside my bc so it doesn't dangle and hit things. I guess I should be glad it wasn't my Aladin but I probably would have noticed that sooner.

There was this one time when I fell asleep and dreamed I was awake and when I woke up I was asleep. Like that?
