Mary I owe you an appology. I am not going to PM it that is not right. I for whatever reason put my values on your style of diving for that I am truly sorry. I really dont know why I did that. I dont do it on the boat so why do it here. Also I was not being critical of your deep dive, I do not have an excuse for the 'lesson', just shear bad timing and taste on my part. So I would buy you a dive one day if you would dive with me. I appologize. I know your having a blast on Coz and I feel like such a jerk for putting a taint on it. I truly wish you a great holiday. kevin.

Wow?!

This place has taken an odd turn.

No, we divers should not touch or feed the fishes, other than spear hunters in appropriate place and context. I have done both  but I don't anymore. Thot that barracuda in Belize was going to follow me home after I offered treats to the Angels who were promptly chased off by the Tiggers and Cudas. I doubt that AGal did anything bothersome or troublesome when she touched that eel. I don't think I know the eel specie in question, but - sometimes you just can't help pet the friendly ones.

And criticizing her deep diving was a bit much I think. I'm confident she did it all safely even if she did not share her every detail. Jeeze, this is the Coz forum, not Advance Diving Step By Step. I am curious about what brand puter she dived with and how much deco she acquired as how it might compare to mine, but I'll just run a simulated dive on mine next time I'm at sea level.

Edit: I see FD was posting as I was - cool.

FWIW, I believe that it is a lot more important to enforce and observe the "don't touch" rules in a place like the marine park at Cozumel where the diver density and frequency is so much higher than it is out in the rest of the ocean. In a place like that the cumulative effects of everyone breaking the rules "a little" are a lot more concentrated.

Oh...I just can't help myself. I wonder if I should risk regaling the thread with how I was almost voted off the island (liveaboard) in Galapagos for touching a gigantic WHALE SHARK!
When the DM said "Do not ride the whale shark" I took him literally. I only held onto his dorsal fin. I didn't straddle him like a mermaid riding her merfish! (tempted though)

I DID NOT touch the whale sharks off of Isla Muejeras seven days ago. I learned my lesson long ago, especially, when I was teased unmercifully for a solid week, and told "Mary, don't sit on the land tortoise when we go on our tour today"

Okay...don't flame me. I am off to rehab. I have another story to tell about my dive a few days ago. But, I am not sure anyone could stand the ongoing saga. Let's just say it involved me, my head, and a large dive boat that was not mine.

So did you molest the tortoises anyway...?

I see another accident tale coming. Wonder if she broke the boat?

Geeze, I do hope the boat is ok....but from the rest of the stories, I get the impression that Mary is typically the one broken in most of her collisions. Damned impressive that she keeps finding new ways to break herself...even more so that she doesn't seem to mind it. :)

What will we all do when she returns to colorado and the tales stop? Ok, Don...take up a collection so we can all send Mary on her next dangerous 007 assignment. Stay tuned folks...next month...Mary goes to the Palau to see what kind of trouble she can cause. The locals are leaving the area en-masse, scuba boats are being pulled from the water and the local authorities have canceled all vacation time for health care personnel. :)

Oh yeah, and about that riding the whale sharks thing. Consider yourself chastised...rebuked even. One more story like that and we are pulling your 'Petting the Wildlife' license....as it is, you are on probation....forever...or until you apologize to the whale shark you molested with such cruelty.

Knowing you are such a cruel person is almost enough for me to cancel my subscription to the Mary Chronicles, but this time I'm going to let it slide.

I thot she was up there by now? I was expecting airport mishap stories.
Ok, Don...take up a collection so we can all send Mary on her next dangerous 007 assignment.
Yeah sure. Let's just send her on a local mountain climb in flip flops. :shocked2: Y'all have excellent rescue teams there.

Hey all,

Yes...I am back to land locked Colorado. Weather is nice and unmuggy. But, I would rather be by the ocean right now. My hand actually hurts more since I got back. Maybe more time to think about it. I am busy trying to set up my physical therapy.

I cannot squeeze my fingers into a fist or anything close to it. I can barely make a decent okay signal. I am hoping that is due to swelling that is still quite visible.

Anyway...thanks to all the readers/writers here on this thread. Your commentary, whichever way it swayed, was just what the doctor ordered! Scuba board people are the best!!
