I had the same problem, and finally after wresting with whether to get a vest or a core warmer, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the 5mm full suit. For me it was because I travel to dive, and don't want to have to bring two or three different pieces of wetsuit gear to be warm. It's easy to cool down in a thicker suit than warm up in a thinner one.
We're doing a liveaboard (Nekton) in Belize this winter, and the 5mm just made more sense to me with the repetitive diving we're going to be doing. My wetsuits are all Henderson Hyperstretch....never found one as comfortable nor as easy to put on even wet.
