Neat pictures. I agree with Alcina. Those are actually mobulas, not manta or eagle rays. (They are related to mantas). They are pretty common in open waters of the Sea of Cortez. If you go fishing out of Cabo, you often see them in schools at the surface, jumping out of the water and doing somersaults. A truly impressive sight.
