Hi!

Ok, I tried upgrading the firmware on one of my Cobalt 2 dive computers. However, instead of using the Cobalt 2 firmware, I used the Cobalt1 firmware.

Reading the vendor's web page, I followed all the instructions I could find. However, to no avail. Nothing would work. Every time I copied the firmware file over to BOOTLOADER and then ejected BOOTLOADER, it would just come back with a FFAILED.TXT file.

Now, it won't even give me the BOOTLOADER drive.

Is there anything I can do to fix this before I head back to the shop where I bought it?

Cheers!

Give a bit of time for the user RonR to respond. He is one of the developers and has helped a huge number of users with their Cobalt computers without the need to return them. If there is anything that can be done by you at home, Ron will give you instructions to follow.

Have you tried the manual reset, pressing and holding the BACK and SELECT buttons for 11 seconds or more after ejecting the BOOTLAOADER?

If that doesn't wake it up, it is going to require being sent in for service. We will need to put in new boot code, as it sounds as if the memory locations have been overwritten. That can't be done through USB, so it's not a DIY fix. More recent Cobalt 2's have protections that prevent loading the wrong firmware, but earlier models did allow this.

I'm sending you a PM with contact info.

Ron
