Thanks art.chick,
That was the info I was looking for. I tend to get cold easily so I will look into the gold core. :)

Henderson makes the "Gold-Core Hyperstretch" suit. All in one. This is what I dive with. It is warm and comfortable. Mine has the built in hood which keeps your warmer (no cold water rushes down your neck)........You won't go wrong with this suit. I believe I read where the hyperstretch stretches to 250% of the regular shape...I may stand corrected on this and I don't mean in give erroneous info...........

I looked up Henderson and am having some difficulty finding places that stock them in Europe. Anyone know of something equivalent to the Henderson hyperstretch that can be easily found here?

for my next dive trip, so i can justify the purchase of a henderson hyperstretch!

I just bought one last weekend, and will be trying it out with a new Excel hooded vest at Catalina this weekend. I had intended to shop around a bit, but putting it on and the mobility was so wonderful, I couldn't help myself. It really was amazing! I like the idea of the hooded vest - right now I have a step through hooded jacket which needs to be removed to go to the head, and it is hard on my aging neck. More on this after I try it out...

I love hyperstretch too!
Are you guys compensating for them not being quite as warm as traditional wetsuits, goldcore, etc.? Are you buying one step thicker than you might have otherwise? If you planned on a 5mm goldcore, does that mean 7/5 in hyperstretch? Thanx for the input!

the (intelligent) guy at my lds suggested i buy a henderson hyperstretch one size smaller than i usually buy because hyperstretch stretches so much. it can grow, or something...true? anyone's experience?

(maybe only semi-intelligent: he also remarked that "we don't usually carry "those" sizes, when referring to henderson's women's 12 and 14.)

thanks,

judy

The one I bought was the same size I would wear in street clothes. I have yet to figure out the whole size thing with dive wear manufacturers. Do they not get out much? Too much Baywatch?

I used my new 7/5 hyperstretch with a hooded vest on four dives over the weekend at Catalina, and it is definitely different. It does take in more water, and it feels funny as it drains when you get back on to the boat - actually, it was harder to get back on our small boat, but then, my previous wetsuit was part cork. The water temps ranged from 68 near the surface to 62 in one area at depth. It was not as warm as its predecessor at the beginning of the dive -- but it was also not as cold at the end, and there were no blasts of cold water anywhere when I moved. The flexibility was amazing - with my previous suit, with 14 mil of neoprene over my torso, my ability to move was severely restricted. The ultimate verdict - it stays in the closet! I may look for additional underlayer, though - the cold areas were arms and legs, and my previous suit did have 7 mil there - maybe 5 isn't enough for me.

Where have you found this suit? I can't seem to find it on Henderson's website. I just bought a 7/5 Hyperstretch jumpsuit and found it a tad cold in arms and shoulders (55 deg F x 2 50 minute dives), therefore my core warmer on order won't really help the situation. Luckily this LDS has a 60 day exchange policy. I'm hoping to find another hyperstretch option with more warmth without going to a 2-piece. It's a fit thing.
