Don't expect to get a correct answer from someone who actually does hydros:rofl3:

Edit: Captain and I posted at the same time. My comment was not directed toward him. My understanding is the same as his, and, as far as I know, neither of us does hydros:wink:

Im hurt. I run a hydro shop that caters primarily to the dive shops in my area. We do the plus rating when requested by the customer, and all the shops here in town ask thier customers if they want the plus rating. But no worries duckbill, if you need a hydro let me know, I will sure to do it wrong for you and overcharge you..

No offense to you intended. It has just been my experience and observation that just because one performs hydros doesn't mean one knows what he is doing, especially when it comes to plus ratings. Man, I've heard it all! It is thanks to guys like Captain and Luis that I received my education regarding the proper procedures and calculations. It astounds me that so many supposed professionals we trust on a daily basis can know so little and get away with so much these days.

akdeepdiver, can you confirm the plus test is tested at the same pressure a low
pressure tank would normally be tested at ? Also, is there any reason a customer
with a low pressure tank that has a stamped REE number would NOT want the plus
rating ? Thanks for any comments you may offer.

1. Yes it is to the same pressure
2. I have had customers refuse to have the plus for multiple reasons such as: -

-They are renting the tanks and want less liability.
-Or Depending on the age of the tanks, they just want that extra margin of safety.
-I have also had people belive that if they dont overfill thier tanks, then the tanks will last longer.

What it comes down to though is the old Maxim "keep the customer happy and give them what they ask and are paying for (within legal means)". I will happily offer the Plus rating if it is legal to do on thier tank, but if they do not want it, then I will not argue with them.

No offense taken. Hell, im the first to always say "never trust your hydrotester until he has earned your trust". Thats why the dive shops in my town all bring thier buisness to me.
