I was just given an AL 80 tank that had it's last hydro in 1988. I think the tank was used for the five year period, and then never again. It has been kept pressurized with air. My question is, is there a time limit for which a tank can no longer be hydro tested, from it's date of production? Thanks.

Hydro operations (gov) have not established any such time limit. But some dive shops have; so you might want to make sure you can fine a shop willing to fill it before you spend the $$$ on a hydro.

No need to reply. After further investigation, I found information regarding the aluminum alloy 6351, used by Walter Kidde. The tank has a WK stamped on it, so considering it's age, and the concerns with the alloy, I'll take it to the scrap yard.
