I did my required search before posting but generally, if it's not in the first couple pages/years then a repost of a topic should be tolerated. :cool2:

Is there any reason putting an HP valve on a LP tank would be a bad thing? I have an extra din/yoke valve and considering replacing a yoke valve on my LP 95 but it's an HP valve.

By HP or LP valve, I assume you're referring to 200 or 300 bar DIN. You can use either type of valve on either type of tank. The 200 bar valve is structurally capable of the higher pressure; the difference is that the 300 bar valve is deeper to prevent a regulator that can only handle 200 bar from accidentally being used on a higher pressure tank. There is a separate keying mechanism that would prevent a 300 bar fill whip from accidentally connecting to a 200 bar tank, but I've never seen a fill station with separate whips of each type for each type of tank.

You do, however, need to make sure that the valve has an appropriate burst disk for the pressure tank it is being used on.

The only thing that matters is the burst disk. Make sure it is matched for the service pressure of the cylinder.

Match the burst disk and don't (obviously) put a low pressure valve on a high pressure tank.

I have a set of doubles (LP 72's) that have one 200bar valve and one 300bar valve and they function perfectly.
I use one 200 bar din first stage and one 300 bar din first stage reg.
Thinking of selling them....anyone interested?
I have too many tanks and mama isn't happy about it.

Of course not...just looking to put a HP valve on an LP tank. As for all other responses, I'm not using DIN valves yet. I plan on it in the not so distant future so would like to have the option of going back and forth (hence the pro valves).

Selling the tanks, not the regs.

There is no such thing as a 300 Bar Pro Valve. 300 bar din is not convertible. If you plan to use yoke, you must use a 200 Bar Pro valve.

True dat.
A 300 bar valve is much deeper and a yoke won't fit even if they did make a insert deep enough.

Oh no, we never tolerate more than one thread on a given topic, like for example BP/W vs jacket BC, overfilling LP tanks, why does PADI/my OW instructor suck so bad, (many variations on that one) and of course what regulator should I buy. :D
