I know it has been a while since I started this thread. However, I have a question for you, and please pardon my ignorance. What is the purpose of the quick disconnect? I realize the transmitter is expensive, but so is the regulator first stage.

Often when doing multi-day boat dives with a dive op they will "take care" of your equipment each day. "Take care" can be rather subjective. As such, I remove the transmitter and keep it with my computer. Also when traveling, the transmitter goes in my carryon with other electronics rather than checked luggage as airlines offer no coverage for electronics in checked baggage.
