Interested in this as well. I am coming down and looking to dive Thursday and Friday of this weekend in Key Largo. Conditions forecast says 7-11 foot swells. Should I even lug my equipment down? Do boats still go out?

if the present marine forecast for Thursday-Friday plays out as predicted, I suspect all of the upper keys dive operators will stay @ the dock. 25-30KTS thurs decreasing to 20-25KTS on fri will keep even the larger boats dockside. if a few boats do venture out to the reef it wont be pleasant. the blustery winds have been relentless here for weeks,,,,,,,,,,

How about Saturday? NOAA is currently forecasting inshore waters to drop down a bit (15-20 knots E to SE with 2-3 foot seas) by then. Not something I'd normally go in on, but perhaps with friends just visiting for the day.

8 day until I hit the water (hopefully)...If I weren't a diver I would be holding my breath. :dancingsnoopy:

Spent this past week in Islamorada and the wind was crazy. Air was low 80's all week and overcast. Water temp was 81ish the whole time. we were only able to get 1 trip in on tuesday afternoon but it was a couple good dives. Oh well. could have been worse i guess. It's a crap shoot anytime when it comes to weather.

Still not looking good ....Man... It had better start settling down pretty darn quick......We can only dive Mon, Tue, Wed, Thursday

We will be arriving on the 23rd and begin diving on the 24th. Weather Underground (which I have found to be pretty reliable) is showing the winds shifting to the NE beginning on Sunday the 24th...looking good! I sure hope it stays that way - we got blown out in July - praying for better conditions this trip :blessing:

Well shucks and other comments - got blown out for today; word was the seas were kicking up at a good 5-7 feet. Made the most of it by taking my out-of-town guests kayaking along the mangrove trails in Pennekamp; among other things I got to show them a little reef squid about half the size of my pinky.

Worst part of the day was actually dropping them off at their hotel on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Needed a pinch of cheap Scotch to get my blood pressure out of the red zone afterwards.

Hi Reefman....Maybe we will see you out on the reef!! Trying to get out from Monday thru Thursday.
Finally looks like right we might be able to get out tomorrow...Keep your fingers crossed
