I went up to Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast in QLD on Saturday and the vis was unbelievable! We were out at the reef at around midday and the vis was a good 20 to 30m.

Hey MIG,

I'm planning on diving Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast April 11,12 and 13th. Where did you dive and did you go out with a boat operation? I have booked a trip on the 11th to the HMAS BRISBANE with underwater world. Any advice would be welcome.

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

I went out with the Sunreef group. An excellent crew, were helpful and they have a nice boat. Its a lot bigger and more comfortable than the dive boat I am used to taking in and around Brisbane. Link here: Sunreef Diving Services - Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, Queensland - Welcome

I just went out to the reef in Mooloolaba which was very nice, amazing coral. I haven't as of yet dived The Brisbane, but it is definitely on my agenda.

I've been to the Underwater World dive store but haven't dived with them. The reason I chose Sunreef was the price was slightly cheaper ($10 I think) and they are PADI. Underwater World is SSI. I'm not saying that any one agency is better than another cause I'm sure when it comes down to it they are all the same but since I have done all my training with PADI, I just figured it would be easier.

Let me know what you decide :D

Burna,

What dive company took you out to Flinders? I just arrived in Brisbane in January and have been looking to go out to Flinders but none of the LDS offer day trips out there anymore. They only offer 2 day weekend trips.

I'm a bit late in responding to this but I was diving that weekend (29 & 30 March). We went to Forster and dove the Pinnacle on Saturday and then Seal Rocks on Sunday.

The diving was great, but not as warm as on the GBR/Coral Sea where I had been the previous 2 weeks! Below 27m the temp was 17C (compared to the 27-28C of the previous weeks). However, at shallower depths it was 20-21C so not so bad.

On Saturday we saw grey nurse sharks, wobbegongs, port jacksons, etc. Plus the biggest ray (black ray) that I have ever seen!

Whilst Saturday was great -- Sunday at Seal Rocks was even betters. Loads and loads of grey nurse sharks. We were so close you could have touched them. The 'official' count on the first dive was 63 (I wasn't counting FYI! but I believe it!).

Unfortunately, I had to leave and return home 2 days :shakehead: ago so I'm not longer in Australia. After 5.5 weeks, I'm missing it! I've been going for walks on beaches around Sydney for the past week and wish I could do so today but there's not much on offer in London!

You guys are lucky to live there! Happy diving!

Who did you dive with in forster?? ... have dived quite a few times up there with Ronny Rotten (Hunter). Best Dive ever on the pinnacle ... tied up and looked over the side and could just about see the bottom ... there were heaps of sharks too ... when we got down there looked up and you could see the boat ... and there were heaps of sharks too. So guess what we did for the second dive ... nope not latitude rock or spot a.

Never have got down to seal rocks but would love to do Edith Breaker some day.

Yes we are lucky to live here .. some times we need to be reminded of this ... thanks
