i got a complete kit of gear from a yard sale (wet suit, BC, tank, regulators, and personal equipment). with the exception of the second stage, and tank, none of it is dated. the second stage is marked '79, can i tell if the BC and rest is vintage or not?

The best way is to shoot some photos of the pieces and post them. Odds are someone here has a pretty good guess as to their age. Add what ever you know like make and model. In general most of us consider anything newer than 75 to be just old as opposed to vintage- not that there is anything wrong with the gear and it may well be perfectly serviceable, just it does not really fall into the vintage category. Kinda like a 57 Chevy will always be vintage but a 75 Vega will never be vintage...at least to car guys. The 79 on the second stage is more than likely a serial number which may or may not be the model year.
