how to attach something to webbing without rethreading?

I want to attach a z-knife to my shoulder strap,
it has a sewn on belt loop
but I really don't want to unthread the strap from the backplate just to get it on

Any suggestions?

My current thought is to tie it on with some paracord, but what sort of knot?

This is a single tank BP/wing for recreational use. I won't be doing anything technical or even advanced, at least for a while. So I'm thinking that I can tie it tight and that'll be good enough...at least for a while while I dial in where I want things again.

Mark you webbing points with color crayon, and take it out and set it back. It’s the type of job that feels bigger than it is.

However, I would recommend not to have a knife on your shoulder strap. In reality, as long as you don’t use the knife as a tool for fishing/hunting, you don’t need a large knife and if you feel you need one, just place it somewhere where you don’t end up stabbing yourselves if you are going to try to place it back after use.

Yea, normally the clip finds back to its old spot. But if one have a pinch of OCD then it just feels good to mark it

I have one on my left-side waist strap, right around 1030; if I felt the need for a second it might end up on the right shoulder — I’ve seen folks do that. (Also seen it on the computer strap.)

Otherwise agree; chalk your locations and do it right; it’s not hard and it’s good gear familiarization.

You can’t go wrong with a line cutter.

I prefer to have one on the waist belt and one on the computer myself. But agree, the stabbing risk is practically zero with these
