I agree, the last couple of posts have been kinda comical. Good info though. Looks like this is where I'll be heading sometime this summer. Now I guess the only thing I have to figure out is if I want to start a 2 month internship in July or August.

I would get on it in July. You start pushing it into September and the North and West of Roatan can really get bitchslapped by passing Tropical Storms.

I had a much different situation than most, before I went thru the PADI process, I was an instructor in another Agency, but I wanted to go through the whole drill. I banged out my DM in 10 days... not pleasant or much fun. I say this because that time of year in the Bay Islands is my favorite for night diving. Since you are doing this over two months, go for it! You're not going to be at in a zone that is known for doing night dives more than once a week, I would recommend to you that you dive shallow night dives as often as possible during those months- the Ocean is spectacularly alive with little critters swimming in the water column, even Coral spawn!

You'll see that the more you stay in the business.

Hmm, good point.

Thanks for that tidbit. I missed out on both night dives when I was in Utila - we got to the resort on our first day as the boat was going out and my ear decided to act up before the second one. I guess I'll have to make up for lost time in Roatan. :cool2:

No worries amigo; just girl talk. She understands and you don't need to :chuckle:

OBTY, GF, if you want to visit the mainland while you are there on the island, tell Gay you want to talk to me. You would be welcome to come up to the mountains to visit our coop and you will be as safe as if you were in your home town.

:confused::shakehead:
Uhhhm, What is impossible?
don't worry about it.

I'll keep that in mind. Just waiting for Will to respond to my email with a couple of last minute questions before I reserve my spot and get the ball rolling.

Roatan is very safe...You should try Utila; super cheap, super safe and a lot of backpackers.

I don't think you could go wrong with them. It's like an extended family - even though we only dove with CTD a week it felt like it. We were included in their friday DM graduation activities w/o having to ask.

Will was also the first one to help us find a local dr. when my friend needed help. He was just leaving the shop as we were going by but arranged for a couple of cab rides for our group to AKR - the chamber is there. At that time I don't think we'd even met. And somehow the next morning Gay knew about it and followed up to be sure everything was ok - it was.

I also overheard Will teaching a class outside one day on the deck. It was very thorough yet fun.

Some SB friends went there for DM and stayed on to become instructors. They're off traveling the world somewhere or I'd put you in touch with them. They were able to rent a small apt. nearby in a safe complex reasonably - they were on a yearlong odyssey so on a pretty austere budget.

Pretty much my impression was that Gay knows everything/everyone worth knowing. She's good people.
