For just lunch and dinner, non-drinkers, a budget of $35 per person per day should be plenty. If you aren't staying downtown or within walking distance, add money for taxi rides. For just a sampling of what I would consider "high end" dinners, you can check out the online menus for La Cocay, Kinta, Kondessa, Casa Mission and Pancho's Back Yard to see what prices run.. I agree completely with seeking out the little locally owned loncherias to get the comida del dia - it's a great way to get a very tasty and filling lunch for $6-8 per person, including tip, IF you pay in Pesos. And if you are not big eaters, maybe split a Burrito at Burrito Gordita or several tacos at El Pique, Los Sera, or another Taqueria, or maybe a bowl of Pozole at one of the stalls by the market back in town. And if you go over budget a few meals, no problem, just hit one of the less expensive places, like El Moro.

Very helpful, thank you!

It was COLD today - my divers reported 78

Near the end of our dives today in the 35' areas, there were some patches of cool water that seemed to be coming off the island. It was cooler shallow than deep. That would make sense if there had been a lot of rain but there really hasn't been. It was probably just a few degrees variance but it was very noticeable when you swam into it.

Thanks @ReefHound - I will be landing next Thursday for a 10 day stay. Want to get my exposure protection dialed in. Just came home from 8 days in Bonaire where the water temps were consistently 82-84.

We get a grilled whole chicken with rice, tortillas and condiments for 7$ That feeds both of us with leftovers. Tacos at a decent street vender will run around a dollar a piece. You can spend the same as you do at home depending on where home is but you also have the option of eating cheaper than you can at home if you have transportation. You can also splurge and eat lobster and other delicacies with every meal and spend plenty if that's the way you like to vacation.

I like it all over the place...cheap tacos on one end, high end fancy dinners on the other. Love both and anything in between.
