The really great thing about Cozumel dining is that there are good choices in pretty much every budget range. If you are willing to walk back into town and eat like a local, you can get by on $20 a day or even less. If you want to go completely upscale, going out for big breakfasts, nice lunches and fancy dinners, you can hit all of the fine dining places for $60 a day. Personally, I go for a mix, with a heavy dose of the little local gems, like Pescaderia San Carlos for a great fresh seafood lunch, Casa Cuzamil or one of several loncherias for the Comida del Dia lunch, and El Moro for a Sunday after-dive lunch of Cochinita Pibil or a great evening meal of Chicken Mole or one of Ray's great fish dishes, mixed in with a few really nice dinners at La Cocay, Kinta, Casa Mission, etc. That is why I won't do All Inclusive on Cozumel.

I like it all over the place...cheap tacos on one end, high end fancy dinners on the other. Love both and anything in between.

This is why I say $35 a day/pp is a good mark - some days will be much, much less and others will hit that $35 or maybe a little higher - it balances out and I bet you still have money budgeted for food leftover for something else when you get home or last minute souvenirs :)

How much cash would you budget for meals on Coz? No breakfast as it's free at my hotel. Moderate lunches, higher end dinners, not drinkers. Is pesos better?

I just got back from CZ. Funny you bring this up as we were debating the same thing. At Casa Del Mar, they offer an AI meal plan - $84/pp, which we did not purchase. When I calculated out our meals, we were between $85-100 per day for both of us. We don’t drink a lot, which is probably a huge consideration on their pricing structure.
